About This Project

Skallskogs Fäbod is a book based on an interview about a farm in rural Sweden. Hillevi Gustafsson was interviewed about the farm she lives and works on each summer in Skallskog, a small village in Sweden. A fäbod is a sort of Swedish summer house that is usually out in the woods and lacks modern luxuries such as electricity and running water. Hillevi and her mother Land Alice work to preserve this traditional way of life and share the history and culture of this special place.

“For me the fäbod life is very valuable, restful and pleasant for my soul. In Skallskog is where I have my roots. Fäboden has been in our family for many generations and I have spent many childhood summers here” – Land Alice.
